| In accordance with this year’s theme of the Sonata Slavonica Masterclass, the singing workshop will be dedicated to the Baroque period. Depending on the vocal and technical abilities of the registered candidates, a relevant corpus of works will be selected for study. Participants will have the opportunity during the masterclass to become acquainted with the Italian, German, French, and English schools of Baroque singing and stylistic ornamentation, as well as to learn one of the works by Croatian composers of the Baroque or Neo-Baroque period, which is often present in the oeuvre of contemporary Croatian composers. In some of the authentic venues throughout our beautiful Slavonia — which we wish to further culturally revitalize and enrich — concerts will be performed, possibly including a complete cantata (depending on the number and type of voices of the registered candidates), accompanied by harpsichord, piano, organ, or a small chamber ensemble. In its outcomes, the workshop will not only provide participants with new skills, knowledge, and creativity, but will also be highly engaging for the audience, offering them musical enjoyment, additional education, and fostering a greater interest in this form of vocal-instrumental chamber music-making. |
